James Carteeti is from Hoonah. His clan name is Chookeineid’k haas Eagle Wolf House. His Tlingit name is Yees Kaah jaahs, “man of the ice.” Carteeti has been carving for more than 30 years. His first teacher was Steve Perin from Haines, Alaska. Carteeti signs his work with a wolf paw.
