The artwork displayed here was produced at Wildwood Correctional Center by the Native Culture Club’s Hobbycraft Program. WCC established the Hobbycraft Program for the administration of prisoner art, craft and cultural pursuits. The materials used in the product of these works include: antlers, walrus ivory, whale baleen or bones, and white, fossilized, or mammoth ivory. The artist produce two of each item; one item is kept by artist the other is sold to support the continuing operations of the Native Culture Club. Purchasing these items from the Two Spirits Art Café & Gallery directly supports the club’s ability to buy the tools and supplies as needed to keep their workstations going and to provide Native inmates a valuable cultural outlet during their incarceration.
